Mr Demetriou was born on 18 April, 1985 in Larnaka, whilst since 1989 he has lived in Lemesos. His parents are Filippos Demetriou and Anna Kostrikki, while Constandinos and Florendia are his siblings.

He graduated from Lykeio Agiou Nikolaou with a major in Pure Sciences. He was the president of the student council in the school year 2013 – 2014.

He graduated from the University of Cyprus in July 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences. He earned a master’s degree in Political and Social Sciences at the University of Cyprus in July 2016.

He was an active member of FPK PROTOPORIA, the student political organization in the University of Cyprus, where he served as the FPK PROTOPORIA President in the academic year 2008 – 2009. He was an elected student representative at the Student Union of the University of Cyprus, in the University Senate and the Council of the University.

He was elected as chairman of the executive bureau of FPK PROTOPORIA in July 2012. He served as the president until August, 2014. He was a member of POFEN, the Pancyprian Federation of Student Unions during the years 2012 – 2014, where he was vice-Chairman from 2013 – 2014.

He became the President of NEDISY, the Youth of the Democratic Rally in November 2014, a position he held until February 2018.

He is a founding member of Startup Academy, whilst he has been a member since May, 2015.

He has actively participated in the CYweCAN Initiative since December, 2015, where Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth organisations are involved.

He was a member of the Board of ONEK, the youth board of Cyprus from 2014 until 2018.

He has been Executive Director of Privilege Education Center since 2017.

Mr Demetriou is married to Alexia Nicolaou, from Lemesos, and they recently welcomed their first child.
