The President of the Republic departs for Lebanon
The President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, departs for Lebanon today, April 8, where he will have a meeting with the leadership of the Lebanese Government on the issue of the increased illegal migration flows, mainly Syrian nationals, by sea from Lebanon to Cyprus.
President Christodoulides will depart this morning for Beirut where he will be welcomed at the airport by the Prime Minister (PM) of Lebanon, Mr Najib Mikati.
Afterwards, they will go to the Grand Serail (PM’s Office) where, following an official welcome ceremony, they will hold a private meeting which will be followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.
The President of the Republic will subsequently meet with the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon, Mr Nabih Berri.
The President of the Republic will be accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Interior, the Government Spokesman, the Chief of the National Guard, the Head of the Cyprus Intelligence Service, the Head of the Diplomatic Office of the President and other officials.
The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus in the afternoon of the same day.
