Elections 2024 – Statement by the Chief Returning Officer, Dr Elikkos A. Elia, on voter turnout until 10 a.m.

Voting has been running smoothly until now, in an orderly and calm manner in all polling stations.

The ballot box in Belgium opened at 9 a.m., Cyprus time, and a few minutes ago, the ballot boxes in the United Kingdom opened at 10 a.m., Cyprus time.  

The operating hours of the polling station in Belgium are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., local time, with a one-hour break from 12 noon until 1 p.m.

The operating hours of the polling stations in the United Kingdom are from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., local time, with a half-hour break from 12 noon until 12:30 p.m.

Until 10 a.m., the island-wide voter turnout has reached 11.8%. In comparison to the corresponding time in the 2019 European Parliament Elections, this percentage has increased by 4.5 percentage points, and in comparison to the 2016 Local Government Elections, it has increased by 4.6 percentage points.
