The Law on the election of Members of The European Parliament, in conjunction with the Law on the election of Members of the House of Representatives

Proclamation of elected Members of the European Parliament

Whereas, following a writ of election issued by the Minister of Interior, pursuant to Article 27 of the Law on the Election of Members of the European Parliament, in conjunction with Article 18 of the Law on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, a voting was conducted on Sunday, 9 June 2024, for the election of the Members of the European Parliament.

And whereas, from the collection and ranking of the results, and following the distribution of seats, the following seats have been allocated to the following party lists/independent candidates:

And whereas, pursuant to Article 23 of the Law on the Election of Members of the European Parliament, in conjunction with Article 32 of the Law on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, the seats allocated to each party list are to be occupied by the candidates in the list who have received the most preference crosses, and in the event of a tie, the allocation of the seat shall be decided by drawing lots between the candidates who have the same number of votes.

Therefore, I, Elikkos A. Elia, Chief Returning Officer for the Election of Members of the European Parliament, exercising the powers vested in me by Article 27 of the Law on Election of Members of the European Parliament, in conjunction with Article 34 (1) of the Law on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, I hereby proclaim, in accordance with the ranking of the results and on the basis of candidates’ ranking, after counting the preference crosses they received, the following persons as elected members of the European Parliament, whose names shall be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus.
