Recording of female Cypriot film directors, of their works and of Cypriot women professionals working in technical fields of the cinema industry

In continuation of the national strategy on Gender Equality 2024-2026, the Cinema Section of the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture sets as their goal the recognition and promotion of Cypriot women film directors and professionals and their works, through the developmental course of the Cypriot cinematographic creation. The aim is to contribute towards the visibility of the work of both genders, as well as to promote reformative actions, where necessary, in order to bridge any gender gap that may exist. 

At the same time, the Cinema Section aims at undertaking research to catalogue the films that have been directed by women with Cypriot citizenship*. 

As of the above, we kindly ask you to complete the following questionnaires if: 

i. You are a woman.

ii. You have Cypriot citizenship* or you have been residing in Cyprus for the past five (5) consecutive years.

iii. You have directed a short or feature film – fiction, documentary or animation – which has been screened at any local or international film festival and/or television and/or streaming platform and/or was otherwise distributed.

iv. You work in a technical field of the cinema industry.

v. Video art films and commercials, reportage and corporate videos are not eligible for the purposes of the research.

* For research purposes, the questionnaire may be submitted by women who have been residing in Cyprus for the past five (5) years, but do not have Cypriot citizenship.
