Art educational program for children 7-12 years “Saturday Mornings: Fun at the Gallery” at the State Gallery of Contemporary Art – Majestic
Applying contemporary practices of art and museum education, the program “Saturday Mornings: Fun at the Gallery", which is being implemented for the second year in a row, aims to demonstrate various ways of approaching contemporary artistic creation by children aged 7-12 years.
Through interactive Artist Talks and the children's interaction with a number of guest contemporary artists and their practice, it seeks to develop artistic literacy and an understanding of the social role of art based on two parameters: viewing/discussing art and producing/creating art. The ultimate aim of the program is to invest the experiences, knowledge, skills and attitudes that children will develop to their growth process as creative and conscious viewers and producers of art.
The workshop themes draw inspiration from the artworks of the permanent exhibition at the State Gallery, as well as the specific artworks and practice of the guest artists. During the workshops, children will come into contact and experiment with a variety of visual techniques, media and materials.
Designed and facilitated by Elena Panagiotou (museum educator) and Panagiotis Andreou (visual artist).
Guest artists in order of implementation of the Artist Talks: Nicos Philippou, Michalis Charalambous, Panayiotis Michael.
