The winners of the 2nd Creative Communication Competition on the subject: “I am voting in the European Elections”, organized by the Press and Information Office (PIO) in collaboration with seven universities in Cyprus, were awarded by the Chief Spokesperson of the European Commission, Mr Margaritis Schinas, and the First Lady of the Republic, Andri Anastasiades, at a special event held on March 1, 2019 at 6 p.m., at the Hellenic Bank head office, in Lefkosia.

Honorary awards to the universities of the winners were also presented by the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr Kostas Champiaouris, the Government Spokesman, Mr Prodromos Prodromou, and, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Kypros Kyprianou.

Contestants in the competition were invited to create an original project which can be used as a communication tool with the aim of promoting the democratic participation of Cypriot citizens in the forthcoming European Elections which will be held on 26 May 2019.

Participation was open to graduate and postgraduate students enrolled in the Fine and Applied Arts Departments of the universities that have signed the relevant Memorandum of Understanding with the PIO: the Cyprus University of Technology, the Open University of Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, the European University Cyprus, Frederick University, UCLan Cyprus and Neapolis University Pafos. A total of 23 projects were submitted by both individuals and groups.

The awards ceremony was open to all.
