The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus presented his credentials to the Republic of Nauru

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, based in Canberra, Mr Antonis Sammoutis, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Nauru, Mr David Adeang on April 29th 2024.

During the presentation ceremony, the High Commissioner conveyed the personal greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, to the President and the people of Nauru. He also referred to the cooperation between the two countries both in the framework of the United Nations Organisation as well as of the Commonwealth. Mr Sammoutis briefed President Adeang on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, expressing his gratitude for the support of Nauru to the efforts exerted by the Republic of Cyprus in reaching a just and viable solution.

President Adeang asked the High Commissioner to convey his warm greetings to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, expressing the conviction that the relations as well as the cooperation between the two countries will further develop in the future. He placed particular emphasis on the significance attached by his country to the joint actions with the aim of facing climate change as well as other challenges encountered by humanity.

During his stay in Nauru, the High Commissioner held meetings with the Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Charmaine Scotty as well as the Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ms Christiana Detenamo. He also held meetings with the Minister for Infrastructure Development, Mr Jesse Jeremiah, as well as with the Minister of Education, Mr Asterio Appi.
